Advancing arc welding processes and metal additive manufacturing through innovative research at IIT Tirupati
Contact UsThe Smart Welding and Additive Manufacturing (SWAAM) Laboratory at Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT T), led by Dr. Degala Venkata Kiran, works majorly on the advanced arc welding processes and metal additive manufacturing. The research group focuses on understanding the welding arc physics to effectively control the process to improve joint quality.
Designing and developing energy-efficient welding torches and arc-based additive manufacturing systems.
Application of numerical and machine learning models in developing digital twins for welding and additive manufacturing processes.
SWAAM Lab signed MoU with Hindustan Shipyard Limited to jointly address the problems in the field of Welding Technologies in Shipbuilding Industry through technology development/transfer, consultancy support and skill development.
